An infamous bandit in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area has been killed, according to police.

The Kaduna State Police Command announced this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the achievement was accomplished through a collaborative effort with other security agencies.

Muhammed Jalige, a spokesman for the Kaduna police, revealed that the agents searched a facility in the Sabon Tasha area of Chikun local government where the suspected bandits were reported to have resided based on solid intelligence.

While the raid was underway, Jalige stated that the suspected bandit, sensing danger, attempted to flee by shooting irregularly, resulting in a gun duel with the security agents.

The legendary bandit was believed to have been injured in the firefight and was rushed to the hospital, but a medical practitioner verified his death upon arrival.

“One notorious bandit popularly called Yellow Magaji AKA Arushe was wounded in the shootout whereas his equally notorious partner Yellow Ashana and others escaped with bullet wounds,” the statement read.

“The wounded bandit was thereafter taken to Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for possible resuscitation in a bit to obtain useful information but was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.”

Until his death, police sources said Magaji was part of a criminal syndicate plaguing the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

The suspect found one AK-47 weapon loaded with 23 rounds of 7.62 X 39mm live ammo, 14 expended shells of the same ammunition, and one Boxer motorcycle.

Operatives were also detained for questioning the proprietor of the facility suspected of harbouring criminals.
