Operatives of the Police command in Lagos state have apprehended a 20-year old man who allegedly raped a minor on October 1.
It was gathered that the suspect, Ayo Adenupebi, a resident of Ise town, Akode, lives on the same street with the victim.
The rapist was arrested by the police after a formal report was filed by the victim’s father.
Adenupebi met his waterloo when the victim’s elder sister noticed blood stains on her thigh.
The victim (whose name was withheld) begged her sister not to tell anyone including her parents.
The spokesman of the Lagos police command, Adekunle Ajisebutu disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but pleaded for leniency”, the Public Relations Officer disclosed.
The victim has been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, directed that the suspect be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for investigation and prosecution.
The CP condemned the criminal act and advised parents and guardians to always keep an eye on their children and wards.
