Action from the European 2022 World Cup qualifiers will be available to customers on DStv and GOtv, with Matchday 5 fixtures scheduled for Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2021.

The first action arrives on the afternoon of Saturday 4 September at 2pm and sees Kazakhstan visit Finland in Group D on SuperSport Premier League (DStv channel 203), before a crunch early evening game for the Republic of Ireland, as they host Azerbaijan in Group A at 5pm on SuperSport Premier League and simply must claim all three points. A new era has dawned under manager Stephen Kenny, who admits that Euro 2024 and not Qatar 2022 is the more likely peak for his current team.

“Some people might feel that I’ve tried to change things too quickly but a lot of them (Ireland’s players) are very talented,” said Kenny. “I think it needed to be done and I’ll think we will get the benefits of that in the next couple of years. I think they will peak for the 2024 European Championships, a lot of those players will have 20, 25 caps under their belt by then.”

Saturday also sees France tackle a tricky Group D game away to the Ukraine at 7:45pm on SuperSport Premier League, Denmark will back themselves to win away to the Faroe Islands in Group F at 7:45pm on SuperSport Variety 3 (DStv channel 208) and SuperSport GOtv Select 1 (GOtv channel 33), as will the Netherlands when they welcome Montenegro to Eindhoven for a Group G clash at 7:45pm on SuperSport La Liga (DStv channel 204 and GOtv channel 32).

Sunday 5 September is headlined by two intriguing clashes: Switzerland vs Italy at 7:45pm on SuperSport Premier League in Group C (in a repeat of the teams’ meeting in the group stage of Euro 2020, which was won 3-0 by Italy thanks to goals from Manuel Locatelli [two] and Ciro Immobile) and Belgium vs Czech Republic in Group E at 7:45pm on SuperSport Football (DStv channel 205 and GOtv channel 31).

Sunday also sees England, Germany and Spain with home matches in which they should win comfortably against Andorra, Armenia and Georgia respectively – anything less will be a worry for the Three Lions, Der Mannschaft and La Furia Roja.

DStv “Unbeatable Football” and GOtv “Our Home, Our Football” campaign offers customers the utmost 2021/22 football season experience.

Football lovers can enjoy the best football titles and cup tournaments such as Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Emirates FA Cup, La Liga, Serie A, and more this season with the Biggie Goals Promo The limited time only promo puts the DStv HD decoder, dish kit and one-month Compact subscription at N9,900, while the GOtv decoder, GOtenna with a one-month Max subscription goes for N6,900.
