One dead, others injured as gunmen attack Fulani camp in Abuja

A Fulani camp near Gwako village, Gwagwalada area council, Abuja has been attacked by gunmen, leaving one herdsman dead and many others injured.
Reports say that the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday morning when the assailants invaded the community with the intention of abducting vulnerable residents.
The secretary of the Gwagwalada chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Mohammed Usman told newsmen that tensions have been high in the area due to fear of subsequent attacks.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Maryam Yusuf, confirmed the incident, adding that operatives had since been deployed to track down the assailants.
It can be recalled that Chronicle NG reported the abduction of a community chief in Abuja last week, on August 17, 2021.
The head of Jibi community was abducted by unknown gunmen from his residence.
According to a resident of the community, “This is about the fourth time the community is being attacked this year and the police will only come after the incident and claim they are on top of the situation. For how long will this continue?
“The fear of who is next has completely beclouded the community and no one is sleeping with two eyes closed anymore. Something has to be done fast before it gets out of hand.”
The fate of the village head is still unknown to date.
