England international Tammy Abraham has joined Roma from Chelsea in a permanent transfer believed to be around £34m.

Abraham who joined Chelsea academy as a seven-year-old ends his long association with the Blues with mixed feelings.

The striker scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea over the last two seasons, and was part of the squad which triumphed in the Champions League and UEFA Super Cup this year.

Speaking on his transfer, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia said: “Tammy will always be welcomed back at Stamford Bridge as one of our own,” she said on the Chelsea website.

“We have all enjoyed watching his progress through our Academy and into the first-team squad, and are grateful for his contribution to our successes at senior and youth level.

“His many goals in a Chelsea shirt and, of course, his part in our Champions League triumph last season will never be forgotten. I’m sure all Chelsea supporters will join me in wishing Tammy Abraham a long and successful career.”

After arriving at Cobham, Abraham showed his potential by scoring plenty of goals for Chelsea at youth level while helping us to win back-to-back FA Youth Cups and UEFA Youth Leagues.

He was handed his senior debut by Guus Hiddink, away at Liverpool aged 18, and after three successful loan spells returned to Stamford Bridge to become a permanent member of our first-team squad for the 2019/20 season.

He started the campaign strongly with seven goals in three games, becoming the youngest player to score a Premier League hat-trick for the Blues thanks to his treble at Wolves, and he signed off 2019 with a memorable winner away at Arsenal. He finished 2019/20 with 18 goals, making him our highest scorer in all competitions.

The majority of Tammy Abraham’s Premier League goals in the 2020/21 campaign came in the first half of the season, as injury and increased competition reduced his opportunities. He still played his part, though, scoring four times as we reached the FA Cup final and featuring in five of our six Champions League group games on our way to being crowned European champions.
