7 students kidnapped from Islamiyya school in Katsina

Not less than seven students and a teacher have been kidnapped from an Islamic school at Sakkai community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state.

According to reports, the assailants invaded the school on Tuesday during an evening lesson.

The bandits were yet to demand for ransom as at press time.

The Katsina state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isa confirmed the incident, adding that the students had already finished their lesson when they were attacked and abducted.

“The bandits were attacking the community before they saw those students and used the opportunity to kidnap them.

“Nine of the students were kidnapped but two of them were able to escape”, he added.

Bandits have continued to wreak havoc in the Northwestern part of Nigeria. Even with the intensified efforts of the military in various parts of the region, several monarchs, politicians and students have been kidnapped or killed in some cases.
