Nigeria crosses 100,000 coronavirus cases as numbers soar

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 1,024 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday as the country surpassed the 100,000 mark.

The 1,024 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 100,087.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 613 patients from isolation centers across the country with eight new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 653 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 36,101.

Plateau State recorded 63 new cases, Benue recorded 48, Zamfara reported 45, Federal Capital Territory had 54 while Rivers state reported 38 new cases.

Other states are Ondo-26, Adamawa-26, Kaduna-22, Edo-18, Ogun-16, Imo-12, Kano-9, Yobe-6, Ekiti-5, Jigawa-4 and Osun-2.

NCDC reports that there are 100,087 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 80,030 discharged and 1,358 deaths.
