Lagos state, the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, has surpassed 40,000 cases as the numbers continue to spike in the commercial center.
A total of 15 people also died from the virus across the country on the same day.
Since the second wave of the virus kicked in Nigeria, Lagos state has recorded over 500 cases a day even as the state government clamps down on persons who are beaching COVID-19 guidelines and protocols.
On Sunday, Lagos reported 901 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 40,624.
Nigeria has reported 110,387 cases with an overwhelming number of citizens recovering from the virus.
At least 15 deaths were recorded on Sunday taking the total deaths to 1,435.
To curb to the spread of the virus in Lagos, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu set up a taskforce to enforce the law.
Hundreds of clubbers, strippers and others who have flouted the state’s COVID-19 guidelines have been arrested and prosecuted.
