Nigeria announces 501 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 501 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Sunday.

The 501 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 78,434.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 519 patients from isolation centers across the country with three new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 218 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 26,708.

The Federal Capital Territory recorded 112 new cases, Kaduna state reported 53, Plateau state had 24, Katsina reported 21 while Kano announced 16 new cases.

Other states are Yobe-14, Ondo-10, Ogun-9, Edo-7, Bayelsa-5, Rivers-4, Borno-4, Osun-2 and Ekiti-2.

NCDC reports that there are 78,434 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 68,303 discharged and 1,221 deaths.
