Nigeria announces 162 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 162 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Saturday.

The 162 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 62,853.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 245 patients from isolation centers across the country with no new deaths reported.

Gombe state recorded the highest number of single cases on Saturday with 54 new coronavirus cases while the Federal Capital Territory recorded 35 cases.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 26 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 21,238.

Ogun state recorded 12 new cases, Plateau state reported 10 new cases while Rivers state announced 10 new cases.

Other states are Kaduna-4, Ekiti-3, Edo-2, Osun-2, Bayelsa-1, Imo-1, Ondo-1 and Oyo-1.

NCDC reports that there are 62,853 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 58,675 discharged and 1,144 deaths.
