Former Ekiti governor, Ayodele Fayose and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo have traded words over PDP Southwest leadership

Aides of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state and former Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose have engaged in war of words, confirming reported feud between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains.

Reacting to yesterday’s proceedings of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC’s) case against Fayose, Makinde’s aide Dare Adeleke said on social media that no matter what the former governor does on the case, he will be sent to jail.

Fayose was arraigned on an 11-count charge by the EFCC on October 22, 2018 alongside a company, Spotless Investment Limited.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.

With Fayose are Ladi Adebutu, Sen. Ademola Adeleke and the PDP Chairman in Lagos State, Deji Doherty, over the control of the PDP in the Southwest.

Also allying with them are chairmen of the party in Ekiti, Osun, Ogun and Lagos states, leaving Governor Makinde with Oyo and Ondo states.

In a reaction to Fayose’s spokesman Lere Olayinka’s comment on the proceedings, Adeleke wrote on his social media account: ”You and your paymaster are bound for jail. No matter how you twisted (sic) the proceedings, he shall be jailed.”

An online newspaper pacesetternews.com quoted Olayinka as describing Adeleke as a sycophant who is seeking to desperately sustain the crumbs he is getting from Governor Makinde.

According to the online medium, Olayinka said it was funny that Governor Makinde too appeared to be in his support, saying: “If the governor is not the one who directed Adeleke to be abusing Fayose, he would have called him to order.

“However, we won’t go gutter with them because we are not in the business of wrestling with pigs.”
