    Nigeria announces 216 new coronavirus cases

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 216 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday.

    The 216 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 54,463.

    The NCDC also announced the discharge of 192 patients from isolation centers across the country with four new deaths reported.

    Plateau state again reported the highest number of cases for the day with 59 new cases while the Rivers recorded 33 cases and Abia 22.

    Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 20 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 18177.

    • Nigeria announces 239 new coronavirus cases

    Oyo state reported 18 new cases, Enugu recorded 17 new cases while Kaduna, FCT and Ogun recorded 11, 11 and 10 new cases respectively.

    Other states are Ebonyi-4, Osun-4, Ekiti-4, Delta-3, Edo-3, Akwa Ibom-2 and Bauchi-1.

    NCDC reports that there are 54,463 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 42,439 discharged and 1,027 deaths.
