Nigeria announces 221 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 221 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday.

The 221 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 53,021.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 317 patients from isolation centers across the country with three new deaths reported.

Plateau state again reported the highest number of cases for the day with 60 news cases. The Federal Capital Territory recorded 33, Kaduna – 26 and Rivers 18 new cases.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria reported 17 new confirmed cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 18035.

Enugu state reported 9 new cases, Kwara recorded 9 new cases while Ondo, Nasarawa and Gombe recorded 9, 6 and 5 new cases respectively.

Other states are Anambra-5, Delta-4, Abia-4, Imo-3, Edo-2, Ogun-2, Oyo-2, Osun-2, Bauchi-1 and Kano-1.

NCDC reports that there are 53,021 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 40,281 discharged and 1,010 deaths.
