Nigeria announces 591 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 591 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Friday.

The 591 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 39539.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 498 patients from isolation centers across the country with 12 new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 168 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 14177.

But it was Oyo state that recorded the single highest number of cases for the day, with 191 new cases.

The Federal Capital Territory recorded 61 new cases, Ondo reported 29 new cases while Osun, Ebonyi and Edo recorded 26, 24 and 23 new cases respectively.

Other states are Ogun-14, Rivers-13, Akwa Ibom-12, Kaduna-10, Katsina-6, Borno-4, Ekiti-3, Delta-3, Imo-3 and Niger-1.

NCDC reports that there are 39539 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 16559 discharged and 845 deaths.
