Nigeria announces 649 new coronavirus cases

Lassa fever claims 162 lives - NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 649 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Wednesday.

The 649 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases is now put at 22020.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 275 patients from isolation centers across the country with nine new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 250 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 9323.

Oyo state recorded 100 new cases, Plateau reported 40 new cases while Delta, Abia and Kaduna recorded 40, 28 and 27 new cases respectively.

Other states are Ogun-22, Edo-20, Akwa Ibom-18, Kwara-17, FCT-17, Enugu-14, Niger-13, Adamawa-13, Bayelsa-7, Osun-6, Bauchi-6, Anambra-4, Gombe-3, Sokoto-2, Imo-1 and Kano-1.

NCDC reports that there are 22,020 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 7613 discharged and 542 deaths.
