Nigeria announces 490 new coronavirus cases

Lassa fever claims 162 lives - NCDC

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 490 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Tuesday.

The 490 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 17148.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 274 patients from isolation centers across the country with 31 new deaths reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with 142 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 7461.

The Federal Capital Territory recorded 60 new cases while Bayelsa reported 54, Rivers reported 39 and Delta 37.

Other states are Oyo-30, Kaduna-26, Imo-23, Enugu-19, Kwara-17, Gombe-11, Ondo-10, Bauchi-8, Ogun-7, Borno-6 and Benue-1.

NCDC reports that there are 17148 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 5623 discharged and 455 deaths.
