Police parade kidnappers in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday paraded 23 suspected criminals that have been wreaking havoc on innocent people across the state.

Recovered from the suspected criminals are three AK 47 rifles, one fabricated Sub Machine Gun, two single barrel guns, 468 rounds of live ammunition, one SIM card, one handset and 25 cartridges.

At the maiden press briefing, the new state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olubenga Adeyanju, said that nine out of the criminals were apprehended in April this year after they kidnapped two residents of Gombi local government area and collected N4.5 million ransom.

The Commissioner of Police said that, six out of the suspects were apprehended including kidnap for ransom in Ganye local government of the state.

Mr Adeyanju explained that out that, eight suspects who are residents of Hong local government area, were arrested after threatening to kidnap three residents of the area whom they asked to produce N3 million ransom.

Mr Adeyanju promised to ensure diligent prosecution of all the cases, saying the remaining members of the criminals gangs currently at large would be brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, said community policing would be enhanced to reduce the mutual suspicion between the police and the general public as they need each other to succeed.
