Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has explained how the Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) will save jobs, create new ones and protect the vulnerable and poor Nigerians.

Prof Osinbajo gave a snippet into the hard work the ESC had embarked on for weeks after it was formed by President Muhammadu Buhari to come up with a plan for the economy.

On Thursday, Prof Osinbajo who chairs the ESC met with members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) for their inputs as the ESC finalises its work for presentation to the President.

Updating Nigerians on the progress made so far, Prof. Osinbajo tweeted, “As we finalize plans, the ESC today engaged with the Presidential Economic Advisory Committee on the Sustainability Plan.

“The goals are to stimulate local production, save jobs, create new ones where possible, and continue to protect the most vulnerable and the working poor.”

“The goals of the report-the Sustainability Plan- include to stimulate significant local production, save jobs, create new ones and also protect the most vulnerable and the working poor.

“It’s about turning the current challenges into great opportunities for Nigerians and Nigeria in line with Mr. President’s vision.

“Besides members of the ESC and PEAC, several ministers were also part of the videoconference anchored from the Presidential Villa.

“ESC’s engagement with the PEAC creates synergy and effective coordination as Nigeria confronts what is clearly a serious economic situation,” he tweeted.
