Nigeria announces 216 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 216 confirmed new coronavirus cases in the country on Monday to pass the 6000 mark.

The 216 cases announced by the Centre for Disease Control takes the total number of confirmed cases to 6175.

The NCDC also announced the discharge of 50 patients from isolation centers across the country and nine deaths were also reported.

Lagos state, the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria topped the number of confirmed cases with a whooping 74 new cases taking the total number of confirmed cases in Lagos alone to 2624.

“Thirty-three new cases were reported in Katsina, 19 in Oyo, 17 in Kano and 13 in Edo state.

Other states are 10-Zamfara, 8-Ogun, 8-Gombe, 8-Borno, 7-Bauchi, 7-Kwara, 4-FCT, 3-Kaduna, 3-Enugu and 2-Rivers.

According to the NCDC, there are 6175 cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria with 1644 patients discharged and 191 deaths.
