NCDC confirms six new coronavirus cases, total 238

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced six new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday taking the total to 238.

The new cases were in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Edo and Kwara states.

“Six new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria: two in Kwara, two in Edo, one in Rivers and one in the FCT.

“As at 09:30 pm 6th April there are 238 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-five have been discharged with five deaths,” NCDC said.

After NCDC’s statement, the Ogun State government announced two new cases of coronavirus on Monday night.

In Abeokuta, the two cases take the Ogun State tally to six.

Edo deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, who had earlier announced the cases, spoke of plans by the state to create makeshift markets in public primary and secondary schools to pave the way for the fumigation of the ware points.

He declared also that it has become mandatory for residents to wear face masks, adding that local manufacturing of face masks local tailors will be encouraged.

Medical face masks, he said will be restricted to health professionals.
