FLASH: NCDC announces 38 new coronavirus cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 38 new coronavirus cases in Nigeria with Kano state recording more new cases than Lagos – the epicentre in Nigeria.

The centre for disease control also announced one more death from the virus taking the total number of deaths to 22.

“Thirty-eight new cases of COVID-19 have been reported; 23 in Kano, 5 in Gombe, 3 in Kaduna, 2 in Borno, 2 in Abia, 1 in FCT, 1 in Sokoto and 1 in Ekiti.

“As at 11:10 pm 20th April there are 665 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Discharged: 188 Deaths: 22.”

Chronicle NG reports that this is the first time that Lagos has not recorded a new coronavirus case since the index case which was reported in Ogun state.

According to the NCDC, 24 states and the Federal Capital Territory have recorded at least once case of coronavirus in Nigeria.

A breakdown by the centre for disease control is as follows: “Lagos – 376, FCT – 89, Kano – 59, Osun – 20, Oyo – 16, Edo -15 and Ogun -12.

Other states are Katsina-12, Kwara -9, Kaduna-9, Akwa Ibom-9, Bauchi-7, Gombe-5, Delta- 4 and Ekiti- 4.

The remaining states are Ondo-3, Borno-3, Enugu-2, Rivers-2, Niger-2, Abia – 2, Jigawa-2, Benue-1, Anambra-1 and Sokoto-1.
