    NCDC announces 34 coronavirus cases, total 407

    The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 34 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday night taking the total to 407 confirmed cases.

    The disease control centre also stated that two deaths were recorded on 15 April, taking total death figures to 12.

    There was good news too. The total number of discharged patients have risen to 128 after patients tested negative in both Lagos and Osun states.

    According to the NCDC, “Thirty-four new cases of COVID-19 have been reported as follows: 18 Lagos, 12 in Kano, two in Katsina, one in Delta and one in Niger.

    “As at 11:20 pm 15th April there are 407 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. 128 have been discharged with 12 deaths,” NCDC added.

    • NCDC meets target, launches 13th testing lab

    NCDC said the number of states with confirmed cases of COVID-19 are as follows: Lagos- 232, FCT- 58, Osun- 20, Kano- 16, Edo- 15 and Oyo- 11.

    Others are Ogun- 9, Katsina- 7, Bauchi- 6, Kaduna- 6 and Akwa Ibom- 6.

    The remaining states are those who have recorded five cases or less.

    They are Kwara- 4, Delta- 4, Ondo- 3, Enugu- 2, Ekiti- 2, Rivers-2, Niger- 2, Benue- 1 and Anambra- 1.

    Earlier on Wednesday, the NCDC announced launch of two testing centres in the state. They are the DNA Lab, a private sector lab in Kaduna and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri.

    This takes the total number of testing centres in Nigeria to 13.
