FLASH: Lagos discharges 8 coronavirus patients

The Lagos State Government has announced the discharge of eight more coronavirus patients on Tuesday evening, one day after six persons were discharged.

Lagos – the epicenter of the coronavirus in Nigeria – has now discharged a total of 69 patients.

“More great news today from our Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba. Eight more people; two females and six males have tested negative and fully recovered from COVID-19,” he said during an emergency meeting.

“They have been discharged to return to their families.

“This brings the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from our facilities to 69.

“Please, let us continue to adhere to all the safety advice from our health experts,” he added.

Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo-Olu has assured residents of the state of adequate security following a spate of robberies across the state in the last 48 hours.

The governor said 100,000 youths will be fed every day in the state during the newly announced 14-day lockdown.

Chronicle NG had reported that Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has deployed intervention squads to Lagos and Ogun following a spate of armed robberies in both state.

The IGP said the Intervention Team is being coordinated by a Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Peter Babatunde Ogunyanwo, fdc, a seasoned crime fighter, who doubles as the DIG in charge of the Department of Research and Planning of the Force and the coordinating DIG for South-West Geopolitical Zone.
