Mallam Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari has died. He died from coronavirus.
Kyari showed the symptoms of the disease after he returned from a trip to Germany last month.
He was first hospitalised in Abuja because he was transported to Lagos for further treatment.
Sources close to the Presidency told Chronicle NG that he had some underlying ailment which made recovery from virus difficult.
The Presidency confirmed his death in a statement early Saturday by media adviser, Femi Adesina.
He wrote: “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.
“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.
“May God accept his soul.
“Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly”.
