Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo has confirmed that he has tested positive for coronavirus on Monday.

“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate,” he said in a statement.

“I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully.

“Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he said.

Currently there are seven confirmed cases in Oyo state, the announcement by the governor takes the total confirmed cases to eight.

The total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has now risen to 112.

Currently there are 68 cases in Lagos while FCT has 21 cases, Ogun- 3 Enugu- 2 Ekiti- 1 Oyo- 7 Edo- 2 Bauchi- 2 Osun-2 Rivers-1 Benue- 1 Kaduna- 1.
