Police arrest two for stealing Dangote truck in Ogun

A commercial motorcyclist and his female passenger were killed by a fast-moving truck on Sunday night at Osubi in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

The tragic incident was confirmed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Onome Onovwakpoyeya in a text message to our Correspondent.

The accident according to our source led to serious protest by angry commercial motorcyclists who blocked the ever-busy PTI Junction in Effurun which caused severe gridlock.

The accident occurred some distance away from the PTI Junction close to the Osubi Slaughter Market in the night.

The commercial motorcyclists were incensed by the fact that the two victims died on the spot as their bodies were mangled.

The death of both victims and fear of lynching made the truck driver abscond the scene according to our source.

An eyewitness blamed the excessive speed of the truck driver for the accident.

“The trailer driver was on top speed, before he could see the Okada and made attempt to stop, he had crushed them.” The eyewitness narrated.

The remains of the victims were later evacuated and deposited in an undisclosed morgue.
