Mr Laolu Akande, the spokesperson to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has told Nigerians to ignore the news report that 35 aides in the Office of the Vice President has been sacked by the President.

Mr Akande was reacting to news that 35 aides who were recently approved by President Muhammadu Buhari were sacked by him weeks after they resumed.

Most of the aides that were purportedly sacked served with the Buhari administration in his term in office and they were re-appointed after the President and Vice President was sworn.

Refuting the rumour making the rounds in the media and social media, Mr Akande wrote, “A list circulating in the media on the so-called sacked presidential aides is not genuine and ought to be ignored,” he tweeted via his official account.

He also cleared the air on an incident that had occurred at the Presidential Villa earlier today where a scuffle ensued between a photographer and a security aide.

Media outfits had earlier falsely reported that the photojournalist, Mr Yomi Adeshia who works with Vanguard Newspaper was beaten when it was only a scuffle.

“The needless scuffle between a Villa accredited photographer, Mr. Adeshida and one of our security aides earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted and I have apologized to him for any embarrassment caused,” he said.
