James Milner’s stoppage-time penalty earned Liverpool a dramatic 2-1 victory over Leicester at Anfield and extended their winning run in the Premier League to 17.

Milner scored from the spot in the 95th-minute following a video assistant referee review, after Sadio Mane was clipped by Marc Albrighton in the box.

Foxes midfielder James Maddision had made it 1-1 late on when he slipped the ball under Reds keeper Adrian with their first shot on target.

Mane gave Liverpool a first-half lead, racing on to Milner’s through ball.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers was making his first return to Anfield since 2015, when he was replaced as Liverpool boss by Jurgen Klopp.

The result increased Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to eight points, though second-placed Manchester City can reduce the gap to five once more when they host Wolves on Sunday.
