Many pupils are feared dead while others trapped after a school building located in Ita Faaji, Lagos Island, collapsed on Wednesday.
The school is located within a three-storeyed building.
The three-storey building came down around 10am shortly after classes started and while the classrooms would have been full.
At least ten children have already been pulled from the rubble, according to local reports, but many more are feared dead.

The school was located on the ground floor of the building, with two more storeys above it. It was not immediately clear what those floors were used for.
Prince Adams, who lives in the area, told Punch Nigeria: ‘It is terrible. Parents are crying. I can’t withstand the gory sight.’

Adebayo Kehinde, Public Affairs Unit, LASEMA said emergency workers are currently at the scene of the incident.
“The incident occurred at about 10.30 am today as a three storey building collapsed at Ita-Faaji,” he said.
“The search and rescue operation is presently ongoing with so many victims rescued alive from the collapsed building through combined efforts of LASEMA and other emergency responders such as the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Federal Fire Service.
“Others includes National Emergency Management Agency, Nigeria Police Force, Rapid Response Squad, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. Nigeria Red Cross Society, Lagos State Neighborhood and Safety Corps.
The exercise is being coordinated by the General Manager Lagos State Emergency Management Agency Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu with the deployment of heavy and light rescue equipment from LASEMA and its stakeholders.
