Michael Carrick is expected to be named as Manchester United temporary manager following the sack of Jose Mourinho.
Carrick has taken charge of training today at Carrington alongside Kieran McKenna, who also is part of Mourinho’s coaching staff.
He is expected to be in charge for Manchester United against Cardiff on Saturday before a permanent successor his appointed.
Mourinho was sacked Tuesday morning following a poor run of results that has left the Red Devils 19 points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is odds on favourite to succeed Mourinho but there are reports that Mauricio Pochettino could be tempted.
Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been linked to the job as well.
A club statement said: “Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect.
