Robert Lewandowski has scored a hat-trick as Bayern Munich demolished Borussia Dortmund 6-0

Bayern Munich hit six goals past rivals Borrusia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena as Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick to stretch their lead at the top.

Lewandowski produced a lovely finish after Thomas Muller’s pass although there were calls that the Bayern striker was offside.

But it didn’t take long for the Bavarian to double their lead as James Rodriguez – unmarked eight yards out – made no mistake after David Alaba’s cross.

And the game was pretty much wrapped up minutes later as Bayern continued to run riot at their opponent who did not show up on the day.

Jupp Heynckes’ side lost their last league game against Leipzig and looked ready to take revenge on Dortmund as they tore them apart.

This time it was Muller on the score sheet as the German diverted Rodriguez’s inviting cross into the net from close range.

Half an hour on the clock in the Allianz Arena and the hosts were in total control.

Dortmund boss Peter Stoger could barely watch as his team was ripped apart by the league leaders. He was forced to make his first change of the game in the 29th minute.

Gonzalo Castro was replaced by Julian Weigl but even that could not stop the goal rush.

Things went from bad to worse as former Chelsea man Andre Schurrle’s pass to a Dortmund team-mate went horribly wrong.

Then Bayern’s demolition job continued. An almighty scramble inside Dortmund’s six-yard area led to Lewandowski poking over the line after Franck Ribery’s brilliant run.

Ribery went from provider to goal scorer as he finds the net with almost the last touch of the half.
