Interior Minister, Gen Dambazau (rtd) and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje flank President Muhammadu Buhari during his two-day visit to Kano

President Muhammadu Buhari has commissioned the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital in Kano as he continued his two-day visit to Kano state, his political stronghold.

Buhari who commenced the working visit on 6 December will commission a handful of projects including the state-of-art Giginyu Specialist Hospital in Kano.

Also to be commissioned is the Kano State Fertilizer Blending Plant KASCO. The plant currently produces 30,000 tonnes of fertilizer on daily basis.

The Kano State Government is currently implementing some Federal Government initiatives like Buhari administration’s Social Investment Programmes, school feeding programme that uses farm produce locally grown, to feed school pupils.

The State has also implemented the MarketMoni, a microcredit social intervention scheme of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and is being executed by the Bank of Industry (BOI) and lastly the N-Power programme.

In Kano, there are 4,963 N-Power volunteers and there are 825,577 beneficiaries of the school feeding programme across five thousand schools and they are being fed by 6,991 cooks.

MarketMoni has disbursed 7,516 loans worth N379 million in Kano while 14,492 persons across 2,733 households in Kano state have benefited from the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme (CCT).

President Buhari had earlier visited the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, at his palace in Kano.

He was accompanied by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and some members of his cabinet.

He also visited the Kurmawa Prison in company of the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, (rtd) and was received by a mammoth crowd.
