Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers

    1. Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General TY Buratai, has warned politicians against approaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons.

Buratai warned them that Nigerian Army is a thorough professional, disciplined, loyal and apolitical institution that has clear Constitutional roles and responsibilities.

    2. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has warned that anyone who blows whistle without evidence against his government would face prosecution.

According to him, those who accuse falsely or tell lies to blackmail others should stop as the state can decide to sue such people for libel.

    3. The death has been announced of Suleman, Son of former Super Eagles coach, Shaibu Amodu.

Suleman, a Junior Secondary School (JSS2) student, reportedly died during the week after a brief illness.

    4. Two officials of the Department of State Service, DSS, have revealed how huge amount of money was allegedly recovered in the Abuja home of Supreme Court judge, Justice Sylvester Ngwuta.

The two officials, namely, Tanimola Alao and John Utazi, explained that they had initially encountered difficulty in accessing the house until the policemen on guard were directed by their superiors to give way.

    5. Lagos State Governor, Akinwumi Ambode, has insisted that the ban of Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) from Lagos road remains permanent.

He explained that the decisions were in line with his administration’s resolve to ensure free flow of traffic across the State, noting that their activities were contributing to traffic congestion on Lagos roads.

    6. The Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, has explained why Ndigbo should be allowed to leave Nigeria.

According to ECA, going by the present administration of General Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of Nigerian citizens into various strategic positions, Ndigbo remained grossly marginalized and disappointed, hence their reason to break out.

    7. Ekiti State Governor and chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Ayodele Fayose, has vowed to dump the party, should its National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff win at the Supreme Court.

Fayose said he remains a bona fide member of the PDP until the outcome of the apex court.

    8. Nigerian Senate has expressed concern over failure of government agencies to submit their 2017 budget proposal to the National Assembly in line with extant law.

Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah, who drew the attention of his colleagues to the abnormality during plenary on Tuesday, said it was wrong for agencies to spend money that has not been appropriated by the legislature.
