NSCDC Intercept Ex-wife of Factional Boko Haram Leader Loitering in Maiduguri

An ex-wife of the factional leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Mamman Nur in the person of Fatima Muhammad Kabir was among the two teenage suspected suicide bombers intercepted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Borno State Command and paraded before the press on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

The girl, Fatima Muhammad Kabir, aged 15 years had once married Mamman Nur as one of her three husbands in two years while she was in captivity with the Boko Haram insurgents.

Now four months pregnant, Fatima was said to have tested positive to HIV according to the NSCDC Commandant, Ibrahim Abdullahi as a press briefing with newsmen at the NSCDC Command Headquarters, Maduganari area, Maiduguri

Speaking to journalists, Fatima confessed she was Boko Haram leaders or Amirs wife thrice within two years and claimed that she hailed from Gwoza town and was abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents two years ago in Gwoza when the insurgents captured the town and she was taken into the Sambisa forest three years ago.

She said: “I am an indigene of Gwoza town, one day Boko Haram stormed our town, killed many people and kidnapped me. Since then, I have been living in the dreaded forest and being married from one Boko commander to another. I was tired of that horrifying life so one day I resolved fleeing which I succeeded. As I was running, I saw team of military men and quickly rushed to them and narrated my ordeal.”

She added: “They sympathized with me and took me to their colleagues in Gwoza, who in turn conveyed me to Kano motor park in Maiduguri and gave me the sum of N3,000 and say I should use it for food and transport to look for my parents in one of the camps for the Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs). So while staying there the night fell and I became stranded with no where to go, some operatives of the civil defence apprehended us and took us here.”

Fatima further revealed that after her marriage to the factional leader of Boko Haram, she was married to other two Boko Haram leaders or insurgents, who later abandoned her and fled from the Sambisa forest.

The other teenage girl, aged 14 years was also arrested alongside Fatima, in person of Amina Salisu who corroborated Fatima’s narrations that they were all forcefully married thrice to different husband’s at the Sambisa forest but her two husbands were killed by the same Boko Haram leaders during squabbles or fight between them and abandoned before she was later married to another insurgent about 44 days ago and became stranded before they escaped through the bush to reach Gwoza and reported themselves to the military in Gwoza town and taken to Maiduguri by her third husband brother who lives in Damaturu and warned them not to come to Damaturu as they could be arrested.

In the course of finding a succour, she explained that the two husbands to the teenagers dropped them at Borno Express Motor Park in Maiduguri since 9 a.m to about 8 p.m 4 days ago without returning to them neither communicated with them which led to their arrest by the NSCDC when some if the motor park officials reported them and they were arrested and interrogated although, they confessed that they never planned detonate any bomb or explosive as they even don’t like the Boko Haram insurgents and were only victims of circumstances having abducted and conscripted into the Boko Haram group and forcefully married.

She said she hailed from Gulak town in Adamawa state but was abducted and taken to Sambisa forest two years in Sambisa.

She said she was married to three boko haram insurgents within one year of her captivity which lasted for two years.

The Borno State Command of the NSCDC, Ibrahim Abdullahi during the briefing said the intelligence operatives intercepted the two teenage girls and said they were suspected to have been smuggled from Sambisa forest into the town to wreak havoc on innocent civilians.

He said one of the girls, a 15-year-old Fatima Mohammed Kabir, confessed being an ex-wife to Mamman Nur and that medical test proved that she is carrying a four-month pregnancy and is infected with HIV.

He added that the other lady, a 14-year-old Amina Salisu, has equally admitted married to two-to-three separate Boko Haram members in the Sambisa forest.

The commandant further revealed that the girls were found loitering at the popular Borno Express motor park in Maiduguri metropolis and that upon extensive interrogation, they confessed to have been sneaked into Maiduguri for possible suicide attacks.

The commandant explained that after proper investigation, the command would hand them over to the appropriate authority for next line of action.

Similarly, Abdullahi said 183 Jerry cans were intercepted in Muna, Konduga, and Jimtilio areas in the hands of petrol hawkers at fillings who fled when they saw the officials of the NSCDC and abandoned their two vehicles and Jerry cans.

He added that the perpetrators were using a 405 Peugeot salon car and a golf Volkswagen car but out of the 183 Jerry cans, 63 were containing petrol while 123 were empty jerry cans.

According to him, the contain will be handed over to the DPR for public auction and the proceed deposited into the TSA Government account BT the DPR and the bank teller should be submitted to NSCDC Borno State Command on the directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Abdullahi Gana Mohammadu.

Ibrahim noted also that some suspects were intercepted with WPF labelled 50 kg bags of rice at Dalori I and II IDPs camps about to sneak out and sale to the public.

The food items will be releases to due appropriate authorities for further action.
