Agriculture: Ooni urges Ambode to partner South West governors

Ooni of Ife and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State


The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Wednesday urged Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, to partner with governors in the south west to ensure food security as well as halt produce that get wasted before arriving the market.

Speaking during his visit to Ambode, the Ooni commended the governor on the partnership that brought about the Lake Rice, maintaining that there is need for more collaboration in the area of agriculture, especially cash crops.

The monarch is of the belief that with more of such partnerships, the issue of food security would be taken to another level, which would naturally create jobs for the teaming unemployed youths in the country.

The royal father also commended the governor on how he has been transforming Lagos, imploring him to keep up the good work.
He therefore appealed to other monarchs to support governors in their domain, as governance cannot be left to government alone, since royal fathers are closer to the people.

On his part, Ambode commended the Ooni for promoting unity among the Yoruba people, assuring that he and his government stand for the unity and cohesion in Yoruba land.

Ambode described the Ooni’s visit as historic in the annals of his administration.
