It has been a tensed atmosphere at the Bayelsa State Orientation at Kaiama, Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state. This follows the death of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps, who died on Tuesday after severe bleeding and vomiting.

The female corps member, whose name is Miss Elechi Chiyerom, aged 27, is a graduate of Ignatius Azuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

NYSC officials noted that her death was due to “non-disclosure” of her state of health.
Report revealed that a search on her hostel section showed excessive bleeding with her clothing and sanitary pads soaked in blood.

It was gathered that the deceased was rushed to the camp sick bay by 8pm on Tuesday. After severe bleeding, she was rushed to a state-owned clinic where she was confirmed.

In response to this, a corps member spoke Chronicle based on anonymity noted that “the state of health in our camp is too poor. The toilet is nothing to write home about. This is enough to cause infection.”
